Steps to Adoption

THE ADOPTION PROCESS–Our adoption process is focused on the welfare of the animals. It includes an application, personal and vet reference check, and a brief interview. Our goal is to do what is in the best interest of each animal in our care. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $180.00. The adoption fee for cats and kittens is $80.00. A fee may be reduced if an applicant is approved to adopt more than one animal at the same time. In an effort to place senior dogs and cats into loving homes, our adoption fee for a senior dog over seven (7) years is only $100, and for a senior cat over six (6) years only $60. Our cats are adopted to indoor homes only.

Please take time to look over our available pets on this web site by visiting the link Pet Search under “How You Can Help.”  You can see their pictures and download the adoption application there. All of our rescued animals are examined by veterinarians who work with us, administering the necessary tests and shots to assure that the animals are healthy. Our animals receive shelter, food, vaccinations, de-worming, micro-chipping and other, often costly, medical attention in an effort to restore them to health and prepare them for adoption. As required by Michigan law, all animals are spayed or neutered. Consequently, our veterinary bills are our biggest single category of expenses. We are able to recover only a portion of our total cost through adoption fees.
